The first thing you see when you drive up to our church is our welcome sign which reads COME HOME. This absolutely sums up all the wonderful features of Salem United Church of Christ. We have our own unique diversity, we are welcoming, caring, social, generous, and passionate about our desire to worship with each other not only on Sundays, but every day.
We are not just friends in worship, but we are an extended family ready and willing to reach out and help each other, and those in need beyond our congregation. Our support and fellowship begin in our church but extends into many facets of our community.
Salem United Church of Christ is a little church with a big heart tucked away in the woods of Pocono Pines PA. Aware of the ministry challenges of the 21st century, Salem seeks to partner with God to be a healthy, effective congregation discerning and acting on God’s vision for transformed church communities. We work together to serve our neighbors and God. In so doing, we welcome all, have a heart for service to the community, help each other grow in the love of Christ, have an active Sunday school, and know the benefits of fellowship.
Because we are located in a vacation area (the Pocono Mountains), we have many seasonal members as well as many visitors that are vacationing and would like to attend a Sunday worship service. They come to our service, because they know they will be welcomed and treated as honored guests.
As our church has a strong tradition of fellowship, our social/fellowship hour after the worship service is one of the highlights of the week for our members. Our members volunteer to take turns providing the refreshments and serving coffee. Almost everyone stays for the fellowship and refreshments.
The hearts of our members are always open to all…'that they may all be one'. All truly are welcome here at Salem UCC.
